Mr. Kaneko joined Microsoft in 1991 to form the Hardware Design group responsible for Industry leading designs in mice, ergonomic keyboards, gaming devices and smart peripherals. He then joined the Windows organization in 2000 as a Design Director as is now responsible for new innovations in Industrial Design, Human Interaction, and the overall quality of user experiences for Hardware running on the Windows operating system. Prior to joining Microsoft he held Industrial Design Positions at Fluke Corporation, Hewlett Packard and the award winning design consultancy Technology Design.
He is the recipient of over 40 Industrial Design awards for his work in the Computer Industry, Electronics Test and Measurement, and Recreational Products. Mr. Kaneko is a frequent lecturer and presenter at both Universities and Conferences related to the field of Design and Interaction and continues to be an active member in the Industrial Designers Society of America. In 1991 Mr. Kaneko was voted to ID Magazine's "ID Forty" recognizing 40 on the most influential Designers in the field of technology and in 1995 was a finalist in voting for the World Technology Awards in Design. The Microsoft Mouse 2.0 which he designed is recognized as the best selling single design in its category and has been inducted into the Museum of Modern Art's permanent Design collection. |
