Having completed their studies in Schwäbisch Gmünd and briefly stayed in Berlin, Barbara and Gerd Baumann, born 1951 and 1950 respectively, returned to the South German provincial town in 1978 to establish the office of Baumann & Baumann. They develop comprehensive design and communication concepts for companies, institutions and communities, for exhibitions and trade fairs, for orientation and information systems, they design books and posters. Well-known is their work for the German Bundestag in Bonn, for the Great Court of the British Museum in London, for international companies such as DaimlerChrysler and Siemens. But many smaller campaigns and cultural or social institutions also bear the stamp of their design. In addition to numerous guest professorships, the designer couple gave lectures at home and abroad, is able to look back on extensive publications in journals and books and has been continuously honored for its work with national and international awards. |
