Ahn, Sang-Soo completed his education in 1981 at the Hong-Ik University in Seoul, obtaining BFA and Master of Fine Arts Degree. He also received Ph.D. at Hanyang University in Seoul in 1996 and Honorary Doctor of Design from Kingston University in 2001. In 1991 he was offered a professorship in typography and editorial design at Hong-Ik University, his alma mater. Ahn was vice-president 1997-2001 of ICOGRADA, International Council of Graphic Design Associations and president 1999-2001 of VIDAK, Visual Information Design Association of Korea. He is also AGI member from 1999. He successfully organized Icograda Millennium Congress, Oullim 2000 Seoul and Seoul TypoJanchi 2001. Ahn did individual and group exhibitions and jury in many countries. Ahn won Grand Prize of Zgraf8 in 1998. His major projects include typography, book design,Cultural Posters etc. Ahn also develops new Hangul Korean typefaces. He is also publisher of the underground art-culture magazine Report / Report1 (1988-present). |
